Exceptional oil on canvas by Philipp Janz, painter born in Mayence in 1813 and dead in the same city in 1885. Master from the German school,the museum on Mayence keeps 2 pieces from him. Our painting is very original for his work,painted in 1849 when the artist was 36 we can feel the influence from the Dutch masters. We note a lot of very fine details in the composition like the phial and the very expressive faces of the family around the sick baby.
