Bronze with double patina signed by Joseph-Victor Chemin, born in Paris the 25th of August 1825 an died in 1901. He was a student of Barye, the most famous sculptor of animals. Bust in bronze by Michel Louis Victor Mercier, born in Meulan the 24th of May 1810 and died in 1984.He entered in “l’Ecole des Beaux-Arts” in 1831 and was student of Pradier.He was one of the 8 students of the master who created his tomb in the “Pere Lachaise” cemetery.A statue in marble of Ste Genevieve can be seen in the jardin du Luxembourg in Paris and many other busts are kept in the museum of Versailles.The E. Benezit Dictionnaire des Paintres, Sculpteurs, Dessinateurs et Graveurs lists Professor Michel Mercier on volume 7, page 340.

Vauban is represented here on the fortification of Valenciennes, city that has been taken and fortified by Vauban in 1677. After 1678, Valenciennes became the most important fortified city of the North of France. This statue, unsigned is extremly fine and can be considered as a master work.

Bust of an Emperor in bronze by Mathurin Moreau;born in Dijon, the 18th of November 1822 and died in Paris the 14th of February 1912. Son and student of Jean-Baptiste Moreau, in 1841 he entered in “l ecole des Beaux-Arts” and worked with Ramey and Dumont.He got the second price of Rome in 1842 and got many other decorations. He built many monuments such as a marble group in Beaune or the statue of President Carnot in Dijon.He was the mayor of the XXth district of Paris at the end of his life.The E. Bronze by C-A Calmels

Rare statue in silvered bronze by Celestin-Anatole Calmels (Paris 1822-Lisbonne 1906) representing “the castanet player”. The sculptor learnt his art from the master Jean-Jacques Pradier (1790-1852) and was one of the 8 artists, students of Pradier who created his tomb in le “Pere Lachaise” cemetery. Calmels has been granted with the 2nd grand prix de Rome in 1839. He spent most of his life in Lisbonne where he built different important monuments.The E. Benezit Dictionnaire des Peintres, Sculpteurs, Dessinateurs et Graveurs lists Calmels on vol.2 page 466.
