The artist was a student of Fremiet and Gardet, specialised in animal representations often inspired by “les fables” de La Fontaine.The E. Benezit: Dictionnaire des Peintres, Sculpteurs, Dessinateurs et Graveurs lists Louis-Albert Carvin on volume 2,page 569 and the dictionnaire des sculpteurs by Pierre Kjellberg lists the arist page 196.
